Competition Chopper M4, 3V, or Z-Wear

Thanks. ~$32 per lb doesn't excite me when direct from Zapp is/was $19 but it's certainly competitive with other resellers. Same with 3V at $27/lb.
I use the site more for 3v because I live in Canada and with shipping the steel I buy ends up costing less then most I could find at the time. If anyone knows where I can get CPM Rex 121 please let me know.

Not enough takers to sink $2k into it. So I bought a sheet of .148 Elmax instead.

All that talk about eta and other carbides but I didn't see the word cohesion !
The more I read about PM steels, eta carbides and super duper heat treatments, mete mete , the more I turn my attention to more “simple” steels that are very tough with a “simple” (very well made) heat treatment. A8mod, S series, K600, 5160 are my favorite steels now.

Anyone know if Z-Wear is the same as CPM Cruwear? Who makes the steel for Zapp?

They are the same. Zapp doesn’t list the silicon, but one of the crucible datasheets actually has z-wear listed in it. I just did s search, and couldn’t find it, but I know I saw it listed not too long ago.

It's great that they are the same, because I can get CPM Cruwear for cheaper than Z-Wear. :)
