Here is a new knife I just finished, I made this knife for the cutting competition that I'm going to on May 3rd, at the ABS school in Old Washington AR. The 10" blade is made of 5160, the guard, pin and lanyard tube are made of stainless steel. The handle is made of Purpleheart. The overall length is 15" long. I made this knife extra beefy and heavy for the extreme abuse it will get at the cutting competition. I will make a sheath and put it on here later.

Thanks for looking.:)

Tell me what you think.

Is that a differential-hardening line running straight 1/3" above the edge? (please tell me it's a change in reflection due to sharpening...)

Kyle,

Just a great looking knife. Beautiful Bowie-fighter blade. Clean lines, finish looks super, grind lines and choil also. Neat shaped handle.

Wish I could be there to see it in action.

Looks great. I will echo John White's comments about the blade shape, grind and choil. I hope it cuts well for you, and good luck in the competition

I wouldn't want to be in a competition against that fighter:)

Very clean piece with nice lines. I really like the contours of that handle. Cutting comps will teach you a lot about handle ergonomics. Best of luck and have a blast.

Looks like a slight convex'd edge to me...perfect for slipping into wood in the 2X4 event.

Thombrogan,

It is not a differential-hardening line, it is just a shadow on the convex edge as David said.

Thanks for all the comments everyone.

Thanks, David and Kyle!

In that case, I hope you video of that blade in action. Looks "restless" over there.

edit to add
looked spectacular even when I mistook the edge's reflection for something else, too. :o

Kyle,
Another fine knife from you.
Looks like a great comp cutter/fighter.
Best of luck in the competition!

Nice, Kyle. I like it. Your handle design should serve you well. Your muscled up blade will perform. Lines and finish look great. Can't wait to see how it does for you.

I'll bet the sheath making is coming along well for you. Show us the complete package when it is finished.

I really like it very clean and crisp and looks great. Does it have a sharpened clip and where does it balance at.

It dose not have a sharpened clip and it balances right in front of the guard.

Thanks for the comments.

"Kyle , this cutter looks better than last years!
Good luck."

I think your right.;)
