Competition Finish Vs Coated Blade ? New Member First Post

Competition finish is pretty awesome but can be seen as ugly to some. I like seeing the dimples and imperfections.

I like the finish, it's like a industrial Busse..

Why is it discontinued then ? It seems like so many ppl like that finish, and would be much easier and faster rather than coating the blade.

I like it too, must of us in here do. The problem is people who aren't familiar with it ordered it and then complained to Busse. There is a thread Jerry started explaining his business decision to us.

Im gonna check that thread out. Thanks

They should just have disclaimer or a note on the page.. This is a raw industrialized finish, if you do not think you will like it. Do not buy this finish !

I prefer uncoated blades. The comp finish is sweet. I only have two coated blades right now,a SHe and my NMFSH. I am really thinking about striping the NMFSH.

For those that were diving into INFI waters the first time saw the difference in price on the Comp as a less expensive alternative to CG so they took the plunge not knowing the
INFI Dimples (don't ya just love 'em) were a Beauty Mark and they were expecting something closer to Satin Finish...I can see why the Boss decided to discontinue due to the
number of returns claiming defective workmanship...HOGWASH....Sorry Boys didn't mean it was time for the monthly bath...:D

Bring back the competition finish with a disclaimer.

If you do not want a Raw piece of INFI beauty, get the cg..

I like mine uncoated. If I scratch it, I can give it a quick once over in the bead blasting cabinet and it looks brand new again.

With the bead blasting.. Does that mess up the Micarta or the g10 if you hit it. I would think it would.

I do have experience bead blasting, but just on steel and cast iron.

It would be really nice if Jerry just bought a huge tumbler and offered stonewashed finishes.

That would make me very happy

Never tried it on G10 but it doesn't hurt the canvas micarta. A couple weeks ago I ran mine thru the cabinet again with the intent of rounding off the edges of the griping ridges. It worked real nice and you really have to make a purposeful effort to remove any material with the bead blaster. Just going over them quickly while cleaning up the blade and tang edges won't phase them.
