Country/State: Barbados
Blade Law: open carry only allowed, folding knife, max blade length of 3 inches, you must be able to produce a valid reason for having it (example, working construction with a leatherman)
Gun Law: extremely restrictive, 6 month wait time or so on application for firearms license, each gun must be individually licensed, limited ammo allowed (i think 50 rounds per gun, anything over is an arrestable offence) brandishing is an arrestable offence, printing is considered brandishing.
Other weapon/item Law: if it can be considered a weapon, you can be charged for it, batons etc. strictly illegal, pepper spray illegal.
Self Defense Law: a bit tricky here.. generally speaking if it happens on your property, or if there is threat of life, you should be ok, but the legal process is long and drawn out.. and the laws are heavily biased towards women, my friend was arrested/charged with abuse, for defending himself against a woman attacking him with a metal spike. case currently ongoing but looking positive in his favor, due to the woman having a prior record for violent attacks.
Comments:
all this being said, how you carry yourself in public, your appearance etc have a lot to do with it, the police wont target you if you appear to be a decent person, dress like a gangster and have a pocketknife and you will be searched, i open carry (pocketclip visible is considered open) a pocketknife every day everywhere i go and have never had any problems, blade length is a bit over 3 inches also.
