Competition SAR5 - pic heavy

My wife actually inspired this one.

She actually likes my Competition Edge SARsquatch (why didn't I buy two???) and she likes the SAR5 that I have. She thought the SAR5 would look cool like the CE SARsquatch so I found another and went a step completely outside of what I normally would do.

The result: A Competition Grade SAR5 (minus the convex edge - yet)

Take a look at the process.

-the bubbling finishes as they come off always tend to just creep me out a little for some reason...

All-in-all what I found wasn't too bad once the crinkle coat was gone.

Look at the color variations and the dark grey.

I'm still going to do some more work on the blade finish with some 2000 grit.

I don't know what point, if it will, get a convex edge....

I definitely know why people pull the slabs to do polish work - the little nooks near the slabs are rough.

I am liking it so far.

Give me your feedback!

I think they all look great! That's great your wife supports the habit.

Say goodbye to the retirement fund:D:D:D

She is a keeper. She supports my gun/knife habit and contributes to it.

The first blade I got her was a DC Dumpster Mutt and she loved it. Then she started eyeballing my CE SARsquatch...

She hasn't seen the SAR5 yet - she's at work, so I want to see her reaction to it as well.

Nice one! Thanks for sharing mate!

Thanks Rob, I appreciate the compliment!

Good job - that came out nice. Thanks for the photos showing parts of the process too.

Hey... how about posting some pics next time!;)

I am secure enough in my masculinity to say... nice pair, man... :D

cmdr249, where in Ohio are you? We have some folks up here that get together to play with our knives in the woods occasionally. Our next GTG will be in September.
