Part of this Buck fever has me searching for some other Bucks to go with my Pro Line 120 and both the phenolic/AL 119 and the 119BR. I have found one vendor with both of 102 Woodsman and the 105 Pathfinder in cocobolo/brass, for $55 & $60 - and $12-13 s/h. I see that 105BR Pathfinder is not currently in the Buck catalog, so this may be a good deal. My Buck bucks are running low - and my MC is finally near zero - where I need it to 'rest'. This may be it for a while. Any ideas? Suggestions as to other sources?

I know... get the three , 102, 105, & 119, in BR form, and I'll need a 120BR... they are costly and a bit more fun to locate. Maybe I should go with phenolic/Al... maybe both, ha! I did see a 102 & 105 at the gunshow, both BR's and definitely use - $90 & $100 - seemed high.

Thanks!

Well, I bought both a new 102BRB and a 105BRB from a mail order source. They, like my 119BRB, have the chicken foot 2007 date mark between the 'Buck' and USA' lines. I find that odd for the 105, as it isn't depicted for this year as available in wood & brass. I am now awaiting delivery on a 120BRB, too, although I am relatively sure it won't have the chicken's foot. The odd thing I have noticed - the newest (#102 & 105) - I guess because proportionally, the grind marks are larger - seem to have grind marks between the hollow grind and the spine that are more noticeable. The 'finest' of my fixed series, grind mark/polish-wise, another oddity, is the el-cheapo 119B from Academy. I am considering 'touching them up' with my 6" buffer charged successively with brown, black, red, and finally, white componds - to 'polish' their spines. I'll start with the cheapest - the 119.

I opened the USPS box with my old 301... and, really, love these 'little' fixed blades. The Woodsman may really see some woods use - it feels like a neat whittler - just right with the thumb on the spine... although the larger 105 feels as good, it just seems a bit less able to be wielded as carefully. The 119BR is definitely too heavy - odd how noticeable the 3.6 oz of the 102BRB to the 10.5 oz 119BRB increase is. Heck, maybe a phenolic/Al 102B - at 2.5 oz - is the answer. My current 'favorite' fixed whittler is something I don't have - a cross between my Rick Butz chip carver and a reshaped flea market 'Old Hickory' parer. The 102 & 105 came shaving sharp - and each with a black leather sheath. Pricey, but probably well worth it... especially so when that wood/brass 120 arrives! Next... a 103 BRB??
