Here is a completed hammer, I posted pictures of the head with a temporary handle a few weeks back, here it is with the permanent one. I think the wood is walnut, oiled with corn oil. Hammerhead is 1045, from 1 1/2 inch round. I just cleaned up the head a little bit with a 120 grit belt, the handle was taken to 120 then oiled. Comments and critique welcome, I will have some more pictures of these up, this one is a bit rough looking as it was the very first I had done, the newer ones are much cleaner looking.

Thanks guys. Ray, I tried it out real quick today as soon as I finished it, works pretty good! I will have to use it long term though to see how the handle feels and works ergonomically, as well as how the head works. The offset hammerhead is very cool, a bit of an unusual feeling swinging it until you get used to it. Don, it comes in at about 2 pounds(roughly, lost just a teeny bit of material from the pilot hole).

Yup always want to thumb check them. If you feel sick to your stomache after the hit its working well. LOL JIm

LOL:D. That booboo was actually from my other hammer, and yeah Jim it was one of those where your stomach just lurches hehe. I have yet to christen this one with a thumb smash. Hammer works good though, I did a quick hook yesterday to try it out right after I finished it up and it works very good, hits good and solid. The controued handle is pretty comfortable, though akin to Kevin's advice on testing a knife, I am gonna take it and smith with it a whole lot for hours a day and see just how long term comfortable it is.

Here is a couple comparison shots with the finished hammer from 1 1/2 round and the newest one from 1 1/4 round.
