I can't figure out how the compression lock's detent works. I know it's milled into the blade somehow, but I don't see how it's milled. Does anyone have pictures of this? Thanks a lot.

the early ones were mostly liek the liner lock with a ball pressed into the lock bar and a corresponding hole drilled into the blade tangthe newer ones are much harder to make in the home shop on small scale.

its a troughf milled into the tange of the blade at just the right angle and depth the the lock bar can fall in and keep the blade for riding open (if i was guessig i think the mjill bit size would be 3/16 or 1/4 inch

i love the comp lock but have never tried to make one work (even taking apart many of my spyders to see just how it works )
