After reading a post in Sal's casual Bombshell Thread on Spyderco's forum I have learned that the Para2 won't be available for about a year so.....
I have a few back lock spydies and a Dodo. I would like a Compression lock Spydie next. I figure a compression lock will be plenty strong and lightweight enough for an EDC.

Does the Yojimbo work well as a utility EDC? Is the tip an issue?

Should I wait for the Para2 or should I get my self a Yojimbo or the elusive Lil' T instead?

Thanks for your time,

If you get a chance to pick up a Lil' Temp without surrendering any limbs, do it. It is a great knife, well worth dropping a C-note on.

The Yojimbo might be fine for you in a utility role. As I have said before, I work around way too many hard/abrasive surfaces for that fine point to live long (I have broken the tip off my Dodo four times).

I am puzzled over the refined Para. Sal posted one place that it was an early 2007 project, and elsewhere that it was a year out...maybe he is planning to spend a whole year on it, starting soon? Personally, I like the Para just like it is. I wouldn't put off buying one now, just because there will be an altered one later.

The ATR is another compression lock, if you can stand stainless handles. It is a good knife, but I seldom carry mine for that one reason.

The Para is a super great knife, thick strong blade, in a thin, lightweight handle. You should not wait to own one.
This is a sidelite but, I like to "flick" it open and closed (like an Axis lock).

I just got my Yojimbo today. I'm impressed. Very light, rides well in the pocket (Clipless that is) and extremely comfortable both in and out of choil (It's somewhat rare for me to find Spyderco's comfortable in the choil). Mind you I've only had it for a day, but so far it seems like it will be my new EDC, replacing my late Byrd Cara Cara in G10. I don't see the tip as an issue. It's also nice having the option of blue G10. That really appeals to me because it's just so different from the usual black. If the design appeals to you, I'd try to handle one if you can. I always thought it looked comfortable and now that I own one, my only thoughts are whether my next one should be black or blue.
