Compression lock

Unless it was smashed down and gave you lots of wiggle I'd say no. I actually got some pm2s from the spyderco second sale because of over engaging. In my life it will probably never move to 100%. And if it did I wouldn't be worried.

If you cannot return it. And only.
Take the knife apart and smack the lock tab with a ball peen hammer once.
This had made the lock up return to 25% on my buddys old para 1 and has been fine since.

I'm sure if you sent it back to Spyderco, they'd make it right -- they're good people there.

The only concern for many people is blade play. The later the lockup on most locks the saver it is IMO. Unless the blade play causes an unsafe lock.

Not sure what you mean by hard use, but... I have Paras and Para 2s going back to the days of the dino-jimping. They're all users. None of them has moved more than a millimeter from their original factory position, even the oldest ones. My garage knife is a Para that my wife and sister use (translation: "It don't get no respect at all"). It's still as solid as it ever was.

It would tale a pretty long time for that to happen.

When I read this I pulled out my EDC para2 and looked at the notch in the blade tang. The side of the notch has a relatively steep sloping side so it would take a lot of wear on the lock bar before the lock bar would go all the way across the tang, so I agree with this.

I wore out my CL after 30 minutes, then the window pane wore off and I ordered a pizza.

I have a Buck 110 that I got in 1975 that still snaps and has no blade play......The PM2 seems like it would last many many years.

As sal has posted, there is built in wear factor in the lock system and should last for years in real world usage.
Cheers....

I have a PM2 that has seen nothing but light use and the lock bar is far enough for the detent ball to be hitting the opposite liner (I would consider that to be 100%). Been contemplating sending it back, but its rock solid. The only thing that needs fixin is my OCD. If it were to develope play, I may send it in.

Most knives take a long time to wear out. Nowadays I think more about myself wearing out than my knives wearing out.

Even with hard use? How long do you think it would take?

The lock makes no difference if you actually know how to use the knife responsibly as intended. Even within the confines of an emergency situation, knowing the limitation of the tool you have can be just as helpful as the tool itself. By default when you cut something the blade (hopefully you are using the sharp side) is being forced OPEN, not SHUT.

Damn......that seems excessive.

The wear or my ocd. Probably both. Even with the lock bar all the way over, it still has a sticky lock, but no blade play. Id like to take it apart and mess with it but dont want to void warranty.
