Since I don't work on Mondays, today is my Columbus day off so I was bored and decided to go out back and shoot 3 compression lockers, clip side to show the locks.

Very nice! I have the PE inlay Vesuvius and the D2 PM. The CL is my favorite lock Spyderco uses and my PM now rules the roost in the Spyderco collection.

I like the ATR it uses a thicker sheet of SS for the compression lock
than the PM. The size of the one on the PM is about as thick as the standard liner on a liner lock and the ATR thickness is what you would find on a frame lock. I understand the titainium version of the ATR is even thicker than the SS ATR. I would not pass up the ATR however the PM is very lightweight and many people prefere that. I find the lock design very simple yet ingenius and I suppose both versions should be very strong.

They look strong to me and I sure hope they are there has been a few tests done on this type of lock (the PM on cut science website)and they did not report any failure.

:D I got a D2 para in my pocket right now.
:grumpy: I've been looking for a good while for a PE ATR but all I end up finding are fully serrated. nice collection of compression locks.

Spyderco tests their products as much as they can before releasing them, often to the point of destruction. I have no worries about the compression lock on my Superhawk.

The Compression lock, as far as I know, is the most reliable lock out there. I've seen videos of the Axis lock fail, frame locks, many liner locks, But nothing on the compression lock.
