My computer died last night, went and bought a new one, it will be ready today or tomorrow. Lost all my pictures and excell spreadsheet, good thing I had a "paper" backup of orders. I`m on my wife`s little notebook now.
I definitely advise following Jeff's example--go pick up an external hard drive (they are pretty cheap nowadays) and hook it up to your computer and schedule backups so that you have a copy on your computer AND the external. That way, it doesn't matter if either one of them crashes .
I am going to buy a 1 terabyte external hard drive to move pictures and critical files to for backup (and to free up space on my laptop hard drive).
They have them at Walmart for $100.
You could also buy a cheap 2-4gb thumb drive that you could use to backup your spreadsheet - maybe even just keep it there and plug it into your computer when you want to edit it - that way your business files would be portable.
ooohh.. what a bummer John.. sorry to hear that.. my computer got infected with some virus recently and needed a major overhaul.. luckily i didn't lose any of my pics or music...
