Concealed carry chest pack/rig for hiking?

As an aside, I do a lot of hiking into backcountry areas to fish, and the Kit Bag works great for carrying a box of flies, a couple spools of tippet, etc. (along with a full size pistol :D), and I've got it all in front of me and easily accessible while fishing.

Pair it up with a small daypack (like the HPG Tara) and it's become my favorite all-day hiking setup.

p.s. - I never put anything except my pistol and an extra mag in the rearmost pocket. I don't want anything else interfering if I need to reach in there quickly.

About the fishing gear...I've been trying this too, lately. Works like a charm. I love the platform you get when you unzip the middle compartment.

I've changed my setup in this regard, partly due to the comments in this thread, and partly because I've kinda felt this way all along. I've gone away from the kydex holster, and have gone to the Maxpedition Sneak also. And I've gotten rid of the extra stuff in that back compartment. Like a lot of you, my system continues to evolve, in the never-ending search for the best setup for my situation. It helps that my girls are getting older and able to hike farther/carry more, so I can hand off a few small items (like an emergency blanket/bag, light, and whistle), and thin down the stuff I have to shuffle around in the kit bag.
