The tactical pants thread has gotten me re interested in a subject matter I had forgotten about.
Does anyone have.recommendations for a good concealed carry vest? Specifically one that doesn't scream out that you are carrying, or that looks like you are heading to the jungle.

Comments, suggestions and site links are welcome.

There are none. They are all extremely loud. But, I'll stick this one in case I'm wrong

BTW. I carry IWB @2o'clock YMMV

Possibly this?

To police, gun guys, and the rare informed criminal, A vest screams "I like guns, casually, but don't know much about them, PS, I am definitely armed right now, but my gun is likely either a Taurus copy of a real gun, or a Smith and Wesson snubnose, with a god-forsaken hole above the cylinder release, and zero reloads"

To the rest of the world it screams "please avoid me and shield your kids from me. I am likely a lunatic"

There is never an acceptable place to wear one in American society.

Untucked shirts are in style... no need for vest.

But if you MUST wear a vest just go with a light fleece vest.

Still, for those that insist on wearing a 'gun vest' please do not forget to also buy the requisite Indiana Jones fedora. It's part of the uniform. :p

Saw these at SHOT this year and thought they were pretty subdued for CCW...

They were pretty comfortable too!

LOL

My god... The pants and belt combination with the gun vest.

Definitely reinforces the stereotype I mentioned.

Everything about this "shoot me first" uniform is perfect, except for the hat. It actually looks normal, instead of bedazzled with velcro and/or tactical reference.

One of my six Glocks in a Glock Sport/Combat Holster, with coat, jacket, or loose shirt. When I first started carrying, it seemed like I was attempting to conceal a toaster oven. Got good with practice, and 99.99999% of the population isn't looking for that CCW on a "normally dressed" human.

Ha Ha, I hear ya, but I was at SHOT after all.

I don't normally wear a vest (aside from a classic nylon down filled vest in winter), but wanted to try this vest on since I'm normally wearing flannel and jeans. If I coupled this vest with jeans, a flannel or buttoned shirt and a leather belt, it would fit right in to the Ag land wear around here.

The OP was asking for non-ccw vests and this was the most normal looking one I've seen (reminiscent of Carhartt style vests you can grab at the feed store).

Good looking vest, but I'm not a vest guy...in general. In fact, I once told my young nephew that they manufacture the whole garment, then cut off the sleeves. Some want to wear the vest, some want to wear the sleeves. Of course, he was young enough to believe me.

Crikey, sorry, bro. Didn't realize that was actually YOU.

The vest you model does look like it would do the trick if the rest of the ensemble were "grey man", like regular jeans or carhart pants.

This (the Carhartt style vest) is the look I'm going for. The heavy shirt with a vest is common here with the mild winters that have occasionally cold days and I often see them worn on cool and wet days even in late spring. Still very rural here as well. I generally iwb carry, but I'm looking for something for dad, as his waistband is *ahem* a bit full.

I, for one, do not subscribe to the urban myth the vest means "gun" to all the sheeple, libtards, criminals, and anti-gun people out there in society. I own and wear, when the weather is appropriate, both Woolrich and 5.11 vests. They are comfortable, offer tons of "stuff" carrying ability, and highly practical. I live in an area where there are businessmen/women, military personnel, factory worker and college students mingling around together. So a variety of dress and styles are very common. Nobody gives a second look at how anyone is dressed, nor do they appear to care! A vest could just as easily mean "fisherman", photographer/photography student, concealed carrier, or just someone who carries a lot of "stuff" and like all the pockets a vest affords! So I don't worry about what other people think -- I just wear what I want to wear and what is comfortable to me.:) I do generally confine my vest wearing to when I am wearing Levis. I never wear a vest and cargo pants at the same time. That is just a little bit of "pocket" overkill, even for me!:D

Personally I prefer belt carry (IWB & OWB) as it feels both more secure and more readily accessible. But there are those times when you just want multiple options available.

If you like leather, Coronado makes some excellent stuff.

Edit: And for those anti-vest-ites, I give you, the Planner+Plus. Who knows, maybe it could come back in style. Remember the Franklin/DayTimer "planner" craze of the 90's (or was it the 80's, I forget)? I was never very organized, but I looked the part in a few conference/board/bored rooms. [emoji23]
