Concealed fixed blade in California

Do you know how county codes are enforceable in incorporated cities within a county? I live in Long Beach, CA, and the LA County Code appears to proscribe open carry of folders or fixed blades with a blade over 3". Would I be subject to L.A. County ordinances in addition to L.B. City and CA state laws?

Thanks,

Jim

yes. just as i am subject to my local municipal laws, then the county (larger) code, then the state (larger still) penal code, then the u.s. (largest) federal titles/codes.

as far as i know, once an area is incorporated, the municipal law is enforced, but does not invalidate the county section.

if there is no muni code to cover a particular violation, the county code would be enforced.

the reason the law is so confusing is because the legislators want it to be, to give the cops more opportunities (read: excuses) to arrest you, search your possessions, and/or seize your stuff. it doesn't really matter what the law is, if a cop wants to bust you for your weapon, he's going to do it. blech.

i just take the risk because i'd rather have the weapon on me and risk getting arrested than be totally defenseless to attackers. but my greatest fear is that a cop will get all super aggressive and trigger happy when he discovers my weapons, and end up hurting or killing me. i plan to calmly tell the officer(s) about my weapons if i'm ever searched or arrested, but if i'm not given the opportunity to explain...
