When you Bug out your only making a sad attempt to rebuild your lifestyle in a way. Sleeping bag/tent = bedroom etc...
If your not in a big city I would stay put. If you have some woods next to you all the better for firewood/hunting what have you. Its very very stupid to leave everything and "bug out" unless your 110% sure you need to, your going to leave behind a $100,000+ house and all your belongings. Taking a gun and some other stuff isnt going to keep you alive for long. Their will always be " did I do the right thing by leaving all that behind?" If you leave and you dont really need to your house will prolly be looted to the max/destroyed.
Also by leaving other people who know/care about you wont know where you went. You might get in real troubble and nobody could help you or your family. It really takes alot of carefull thinking before you do such rational things.
If a city near you gets nuked unless your a few hundred miles away just go to the store and buy extra food and water and turn on CNN.
