Condor dull out of box... now 2 for 2

yeah, my hudson could slice paper with no problem. EVen tho it's hard to see, the bevel is a very, very slight (and thick) hollow grind, but convexes really nice. I like this knife a lot too.
 
i'm noticing a lot of very slight hollow grinds in production knives that i'm polishing or reprofiling

wonder why they end up that way
 
Probably because the rough-grinding is very fast and cheap to do that way. Just drag the blade between the two stones. Any further sharpening or grinding of the edge largely removes that stage of the process, but it greatly reduces the amount of time spent using those other stages.

Pure speculation on my part, though. :)
