Condor Golok Broke!

It amazes me, of all the Condor designs, that this one was even breakable. Considering the steel, and that incredibly clean break, I'm kinda dumbfounded.

Me Too:confused:

Thanks for all the good advise guys. I've sent Rick Jones an email with a link to this thread. I'm sure he's busy (particulaly this time of year) but I'll give him some time and then call him. I DO like the Condor Golok as it's one of few that fit my hand. and as I said, it's probably a bad heat treat.
I'll let you all know the outcome.

Take care and thanks.

Mark T.

Yeah I'm surprised it was able to break as well! That beast is 1/4" thick at the break! It's definitely a bad HT and you'll be taken very well care of. Don't forget to beat the tar out of the replacement when you get it! :D:thumbup:

Hello,
Just thought I’d tell everybody that Rick and Condor really came through. They sent me a brand new Golock at no charge. That’s what I call great customer service.
Thanks Rick & Condor. You’re :thumbup:up in my book.
Sincerely,
Mark T.

thanks for reporting back. it's great to hear that everything worked out and that condor stepped up to the plate big time

This sounds like a freak occurrence, perhaps caused by heat treat as 42 says. I just got a new Condor Golok about a week ago, I've had it out in back absolutely whaling on that thing: batoning it through 6-inch diameter chunks of wood, hacking and chopping through large pieces, etc. Mine was perhaps not quite as sharp from the factory as it could be, but in terms of strength, it is rock solid.

I'd encourage the OP not to give up. If you like the Condor, its specs, its feel and balance, etc., I'd give it a second chance. Let Condor fix it under warranty and give them a chance to make it right before you give up. I'll bet if you get another one, it'll be fine.

the OP contacted condor and they took great care of him.

Sorry, somehow I overlooked that last post with the resolution. Looks like I was late to the party. :-) Oh I see what happened, I only saw the first page worth of posts.

These things happen. I once bought a Swamp Rat Howling Rat, and had the blade snap cleanly in two just stabbing it lightly into a stump and twisting it out. I got a replacement and did ungodly things with it with no trouble. Lemons happen.

Told ya' dude! Rick is the MAN! :D:thumbup:

That's really awesome. I'm glad you gave them a second chance. I love my golok; it's performance has been outstanding!
