I have loved it since i purchased it, used it for yard chores and the like, lately its been getting more work as i thin out the low hanging and dead branches on the trees in the yard.

Well today was the day for its demise.

It was the first and only glancing blow it suffered and it snapped in half straight away.

Its a hell of a tool for the price, and i don't think this is normal for this thing, i guess i am looking for feedback on that part. It was nice and handy while it lasted.

Holy crap! Glancing blow off of what?
That's amazing given how shallow the grind is on the Golok. It's a thick blade.

Not sure of the wood (it is relatively strong), but its an old log i use as a backer when chopping small stuff.

Condor will replace it I'm sure. Just go to their website and get their contact info.

for the money i didnt expect a warranty. Wow didn't even check that to tell the truth

I have been told that a new golok is on the way. :D

@shangchi108 , they are nice tools that do work extremely well. I don't think this is normal for 1075 at 54rc

I got my replacement Golok today (under warranty), Its beautiful, honestly more so than the first one. I don't think I could have spent my money in a better way.

Big props to the folks over at Condor.

I'm shocked that it broke. 1075 is a tough steel. Good for Condor on replacing it.

They REALLY stand behind their product. All of their products have a lifetime warranty, and that breakage was FAR from normal--in fact it's the first damage of that kind I've ever seen. Don't feel leery of beating the snot out of your new one!

Wow, I'm really impressed that they have a lifetime warranty as well! Any chance you can get a good macro shot of the grain in the break? I suspect there was probably a heat-treat problem. Now post up pictures of your new one :)

They're also ISO 9000 certified! :D

You know, that remaining portion with the handle would baton/split just fine, and you don't have to worry about the point breaking. :)

I will make it a point to get both of those shots soon. I just saw the new thread activity this evening.

Take it to a machine shop and weld it. I have done several blades that way. You will be surprised how much use you will still get out of it.

OK, sorry for the wait.

The edge damage after beating the broken half against a cast iron frame, there are no chips, only small to medium rolled edge. The is looking down on the edge, that was the best angle for the damage to show. (its not that bad considering what it hit and how hard, i checked it since it was already broken)

Here is the fracture handle side of the blade.
