Dude...I am seeing win win win here.

You got your replacement. Win #1.
Take the broken half with the handle and mod it into some sort of mondo bowie Knife or or a Scramasax or something. Win #2.
Take the other half, grind a tang into it and make some sort of heavy duty Leuku style knife (see below). Win #3.

You could probably do it all with a file.
