I find it's my most effective chopper. Definitely one of the top two or three most effective knives I have for the money, which is saying a lot. I do a ton of research, shopping and penny pinching before I buy anything.
Both the kukri and golok are beautiful choppers. Took'em both out last spring break when my pops and I went hiking in shimek state forest, and thoroughly enjoyed both of them.
Wow. Those look great. I usually never get to see any Condors.
Most people selling them have sort of an illustration on their website and most people posting pictures of them always use Photobucket and all I get is a red X.
Small, light, easily packable, extremely precise, natural forward balance and sweet spot (very tomahawk like feel) great secure handle, very clean looking overall. I highly recommend this blade.
I've got one coming in the mail for my father in law because he fell in love with my Parang but my distributor is out of it at the moment. I told him to trust me and I'd pick him out something cool and it seems that based on your experiences, I made the right decision.
Maybe I'll keep the Khukri and give him the Parang.
Whats the blade thickness on the Condor Kukri?
Is it Kukri thick or machete thick or something in between?
I'm planning on getting a Condor Hudson Bay knife and a Condor Golok soon!
A Kukri of the same thickness as the HBK would be heavy but completely awesome!
I've been really surprised lately with all the talk of this being such a good chopper. Thought after it first hit folks were saying it was all machete???
In terms of what it would be classified as, yes it's a machete. Machetes come in all sorts of patterns, though, and even the classic Latin pattern can be a good chopper. The Condor kukri accomplishes this through its distribution of mass and having that mass set forward of the angle of your swing, much like any other kukri would.
