Condor Parang Machete

Has anyone had any experience with the condor tool and knife parang machete? If so would you recommend it? Any input would be much appreciated :)
 
Yes and yes, but what would you be using it for, where, how frequently, and what would your primary (cutting frequently) and secondary (cutting occasionally) targets be?
 
I have one, and it is a nice blade. I don't end up using it for much though, because it is a very heavy blade with a relatively thick profile.

It works well for trimming trees and bushes. For grasses and other soft plants, it isn't very useful at all, though. And for what it is good at, I prefer a khukuri.

I like it and it is fun to handle, but I find that it doesn't bite deeply into wood and wants to glance off when chopping, out of the box. It gets better after taking the shoulders down with an axe file.

I consider it something of a heavy limbing machete. For grasses you'd need to thin the factory bevel a good deal. But for clearing trails, light felling, building stuff, and wood processing it does a good job.
 
i mostly chop hardwoods for building shelters and sometimes fell small trees (yes, with a machete). i dont clear grasses and things like that. im just looking for a good heavy duty chopper.
 
would a condor golok be better? im considering that as well because of the size and weight compared to the parang.
 
Ought to do just fine for ya' then! :thumbup: The parang hits harder than the Golok. For your purposes I think the parang would do very nicely.
 
It's a really nice blade. It is rather heavy, and as Bary said, The edge could do with a thinning for any light work. I love my parang. Condor makes solid stuff.
