They both are value bushcrafters with similar specs.

Sapien:

The Sapien I like has a wood handle (as opposed to the Micarta) and goes for about the same as the Survival Craft ($25), which has a polypropylene handle.

I've got a sapiens, like it a lot. If you're handy with a belt grinder, the condors are quite the bargain.

I like the wider blade of the Survival Craft better, though the knife is less of a looker than the Sapien. :D I find it fills out the hand a little better and has a bit more "oomph" in the cut. The Sapien has a finer point though. I like to think of the Sapien as a "Bushcrafter's Paring Knife."

Both great knives though.

The survival craft is a very nice blade! I just got mine today from Baryonyx. It has good weight balance, the poly handle is nicer than expected, and it feels super solid like it can withstand abuse

Do you think the SC has a rat tail tang?

I'm pretty sure it's a broad full-length piece of work--they usually run the lanyard whole right through the end of the tang. Joezilla posted a pic a while back of the tang on the Rodan and it was absolutely massive, so I have no reason to suspect it's any different in this case!

Lanyard hole goes through the tang on the Survival craft. All the way to the back, Yep!

I swear--the Survival Craft is the pug of woods knives. It's so ugly you just can't help but love it. :D

Seriously, it's a fantastic design and makes up for its looks in extreme comfort, durability, and cutting power.:thumbup:

It is ugly, I'm well aware of that, the handle is from a banana knife. I like it because its comfy for all day use. You should have saw the original (shudders)

It's ugly in the way Spyderco's are ugly--because it was designed "in the dark." I'd like to see the original, though. I bet it was terrifying. :D
