I have noticed lately that there is not a lot of content on Condor Knife and Tool.

I wonder if this is due to the jump in pricing over the last few years?

When I first discovered Condor, I almost couldn’t believe it. The value was through the roof for what you paid.

A Hudson Bay was about 38 bucks. For 1075, walnut, and a thick leather sheath!

They still make a fine knife. I just wonder if they have lost popularity due to the price hikes.

To a large extent, they have priced themselves out of the market for me. I have a couple of knives and quite a few machetes. I doubt I would have more than a couple at current prices.

The exception is the Baryonyx machete. I forget what I paid for it, but it seems like a bargain at the $69.95 I saw the last time I looked.

Yeah, that’s kinda how I feel too.

The Bushlore at 25-30 dollars seemed like a great deal and an alternative to a Morakniv.

yeah, hudson bay today is near $70 on typical 'sale' price
still a great overall workhorse

these days I'd be way more likely to get a skrama in 80crv2 for the same $
...now if they started doing a mass migration to 80crv2 and managed to keep pricing in the same neighbourhood it would be 'game on'

They still make great tools (I found, with a lot of searching, a wonderful little double bit axe...). All the Condor stuff I have (I still have two knives and a Mini Duku Parang) has been excellent both for use and pleasure of use. I have been falling out with their offering with Micarta handles and coated blades (just not my thing). Couple that with the understandable increase in price and I'm out. But, even at the current prices, I would still buy 1095 forged blades with South American walnut handles.

I really enjoy the Eco Parang I bought 2 years ago for less than $40 if I remember from AMZN. I recommended to someone a few weeks ago and it was not available then. Don’t know if it out temporarily or?

Very happy with file and canoe shaped stone I purchased from @Baryonyx to sharpen that one.

I have quite a few Condor offerings, both knives and machetes. I believe the first was the regular Golok machete. I have been carrying their Compact Kephart as an edc. I used to buy them on impulse when I visited the big knife store in Sevierville TN. Bought the Hudson Bay almost immediately after it's release. I enjoy visiting their booth at the Blade Show and almost always buy a few things there.

In case no one noticed but all knives have been getting more expensive.

Its pricing for me. They need to upgrade materials if they want us to pay those kinds of prices. $70 is too much for a Hudson Bay. And their axes are pricy too. I used to really like Condor... :(

I had always at least looked at their offerings. Now that they have increased prices and went in a more tacticool direction, I don't anymore. Their niche in the market was inexpensive, no frills tools. They don't appear to be that anymore so they've gotten lost in the sea of competing products for me.

They have generally upgraded the steel on knives, especially on the newer models. The price matters to me and I used to buy what I consider a lot of them to play with. Now, I don't buy them to just try out unless I really expect to like the knife. Never tried their hatchets/axes.

Yeah but the price got upgraded with the steel lol The 1070 stuff is expensive and the 1095 is way expensive. :( I have a carpenter hatchet from them back when they were cheaper and its great. But for the prices they have on them now, you could spend a bit more and get a nice Swedish axe that wont need hours of work to get the edge right on it.

I read that their axe edges were a bit thick. And if I were in the market, it would be a GB axe or hatchet for me. But I don't use them much and I have a couple axes already (Plumb brand as I recall). Everything changed when Condor went to MAP pricing.

I have a few Condors and really like them. I bought a Kephart blank for ~$20ish that I use quite often. Most recently was the Plan A bowie. I still haven't used it much but what little I have done, I was impressed. It was ~$100 and came with a really nice sheath. There are a few more Condors on my radar. I know prices have gone up in recent years but I still feel like they are a solid value at current prices.

Friend of mine bought Condor Fidelis, had good words about it when he tried it at first... and basically trash talked it yesterday. From sheath that needed sand paper treatment at first to thin blade that holds edge decently in fresh wood, but gets dull with single pass through cardboard... and so on. It's slightly bent already too LOL.

I'll try to get him on forum so he can make a pic heavy review.

Even if prices have went up, that Baryonyx I have is the most dead useful machete I've ever had!
Talk about sharp and and just flat out performance...its got it.

Going to have to take a look at that Plan A bowie. Of course I need it like a hole in the head.
