#23 vs #15:

Any insider info as to whether they will make both single and double blade configurations? I think the single blade would be easier to carry, while the double blade will have the edge in versatility. Either one would be a candidate for belt carry, I think.

I ordered/paid for these two club knives in early January 2020. The OKCA knife was announced in late November. A OKCA prototype knife was suppose to be at the Oregon Winter knife show in December. I do not believe GEC had it ready in time. The OKCA member knife has to be ready for the Spring Oregon Knife show April 18th. These knives have been sold out . {100 made} They went up in price after February 15th. All the profits go to the knife show fund. OKCA #23 Jumbo Trapper two blades antique jigged bone. The Allegheny Mountain Knife Collectors Association :AMKCA #23 Jumbo Trapper smooth Goldenrod bovine cattle bone -- orders are closed about 25 to 30 will be made I want the Brazilian Cherrywood knife also.

The tang stamps in the pics look like two-blade trappers, to my eyes. If they offer a single blade, I'm all in.

Can anyone post a pic of a 23 next to a Buck 110? Thanks.

Sorry for the photo quality. Just snapped these real quick on top of the knife cabinet. I added a Case Sodbuster and F&F #21 Bull Buster, as well, in case that helps anyone.

The Buck’s handle is noticeably longer, but the blade lengths are similar. The drop point on the #23 might even be a hair longer.

The #23 is nearly identical in size to the #21.

I will say that, while that two-blade #23 is a hefty knife, it feels light compared to the Buck. :D CK listed the weight on that GEC/Schrade #23 as 6.18 ounces. Buck lists the weight of the 110 as 7.2 oz, but the difference feels more significant than an ounce to me. The Bull Buster, at a mere 3.55 oz, feels like a feather.

Nice comparison. Thanks for doing that for us, Barrett.:thumbsup:

Dear All,

Sorry I'm a little confused. Were Schrades once made by GEC? If so, was it just the #23 or were there others?

Thank you,

Howi

Howi, here’s some info @knifeswapper posted in this thread:

The original (non-auto) Schrade models made by GEC for Taylor (Schrade) were some of the first knives made by GEC in 2007. I suspect it was a low margin deal struck to help GEC get off the ground and get in some practice making knives. They came in 3-4 handles each in the #23 and #73.

Funny thing was that they were much nicer than the knives GEC was making with their own brands stamped on them. Matchstriker pulls and lined bolsters a good year before GEC did that for themselves.

Thank you so much for the comparison. I was worried it would be too big but it’s actually a nice size.
