Confused about RAT

Glad to know that this is all getting straightened out. I have a RAT-3 that is a pretty decent knife. I bought it before I knew what was gouing on. Im pretty sure that Im getting a Izula for fathers day, and I am saving up for a RC-5. Almost there.

What they all said!

RC knives are heads above the Ontario produced RAT knives.

Ummm... no.

Jeff, Mike, and Shon have come up with a truly excellent product line with the RC series of knives, and I am as adicted to them as anyone else here, but if memory serves, Jeff and Mike also had a hand in the RAT line design and production. While I prefer the new RC knives, I do not regret any of my RAT purchases. I like my TAK-1's ALOT, and my RAT-3 a lot. The issue is NOT the knives, but the company behind them.

Ontario... well... if you break on of their blades, you were using it wrong, Mike, Jeff and Shon aren't like that. That is why I recommend RC over Ontario's RATs, and because I do not like the companies legal crap. But to say the blades aren't as good..... well I don't agree at all. Jeff and Mike have ALWAY had a lot of pride in their knives, let it be Rowen or Ontario making it, and to say anything else is just wrong. I can't image them allowing the RAT logo to be put on ANYTHING that wasn't a quality product.

Not necessarily. When Ontario gets the heat treatment right, they make a fantastic knife. A problem with the Ontario RATs was that they had inconsistent heat treatments. :)

Thanks for all your comments and advice -- they are very much appreciated. An RC-6 is on its way..
