Congrats Benchmade!!! The 781 Anthem is amazing!

all right stop showing this knife I cant afford it right now :)

Fantastic knife! Congratulations!

I have heard somewhere that Anthem doesn't use the usual omega spring for the Axis lock and instead uses a bar spring.
Is it true? If so, it will probably be my first Benchmade.

That's correct. It uses a coil spring on a bar along the back of the inside of the handle instead.

Yes, it's true. I don't own one myself, but have played with it a little.

ETA: Looks like h.d. Beat me to the post. :)

Thanks guys! That is great!
I am really hesitant to try ones with the omega spring, as I have heard it fail and can easily see it would.
Coil spring seems better to me, as I am not concerned about it in Manix 2.

Yep, its almost identical to the lock on the Manix, the main difference being that the Axis lock uses a steel bar rather than a steel ball as the lock interface. The spring setup is the same. I'd say the Manix has more tension on the spring than the Anthem, but I actually like the Anthem's level of tension better for flipping and flicking, as that is a pretty important part of any Axis lock knife, lol.

Thank you halden.doerge halden.doerge .
A very thin 20CV blade with an integral handle and a better Axis lock..... Super attractive.
Another expensive knife on my immediate wish list......

That's encouraging to hear about the 781. Benchmade seems to catch an unreasonable share of hate on these forums so it's nice to hear good things about their new production flagship. I personally have loved the knife since I first saw it but it's a huge chunk of change to lay out without knowing Benchmade got it right.
I agree about the price.
Personally, Benchmade fell from second place on my list of favorite brands when their map policy contributed to an overall trend for their knife prices to rise. Unfortunately, this happened during a period when quality control decreased. Hence, my loss of interest in the brand. Better deals to be found elsewhere.
Just thought an explanation might justify the unhappiness with Benchmade. Not really unreasonable at all.
