Most Congress patterns, even if the off-set grinds are done correctly, will still have some krinking.
From what I've heard, even single blade patterns will have some krinking to get the blade centered in the well... welcome to traditionals.
One day, I'll own a GEC... but not today. Gonna try some more patterns out first. Payday was a few days ago, and I live next door to a Case dealer, so we will see where the adventure goes!
If you aren't "set" on the congress pattern, you might want to look at the Case humpback whittler, or the half-whittler. I own, and like them both. The half whittler is close to the perfect watch-pocket knife....
I guess to answer the question, normal and can sometimes be terrible. I like the Congress pattern more than most. Here are two good ones, GEC 61 and 62.
4 blade Congress knives are one of my favorite patterns, perfectly normal for blades to be krinked, some makers more than others depending on grinds as others stated, don't even notice it when using.
