Considering Strider and ZT, what else should I be looking at?

Honestly, the last thing I worry about when buying one of those so-called tactical folders is breaking it. You can't "break" an SMF or an XM-18, unless you are one of those jackasses posting "resistance tests" videos on YouTube.
What you want from CS is to handle issues like lost or stripped screws, blade play, worn lock bars... You also want fast service and good communication about what is going on, including shipping.

Apparently when dealing with Strider there's something else you will need CS for. Having them fix a knife that arrived messed up.

I don't know if we are pushing the envelope by posting screen captures from another forum, but I could not resist.;)

Define messed-up.;)
I bought an 875$ MSC "custom" SMF and there was a problem with the G-10 scale. I sent them 3 e-mails over as many weeks, and received no answer. I was about to call them, then read about that fellow that had not seen his knife in months, so I sent my knife to a friend who makes scales professionally to have it fixed.
You know how you send it in but you don't know how or when they will send it back, so Strider CS is not an option for me.

I'm in total agreement with you about their CS. I think it's kind of sad you would spend that much and not even be able to count on them to make it right. Making things like this right in a reasonable amount of time is part of the reason to buy expenisive knives. You just gave a perfect example of it of what I mean.

Extrema Ratio makes probably the toughest folders on the planet they are pricey though and don't take the greatest edge but a trip to Tom Krein fixes most ills.

S30v is not a great metal for extreme use in chopping, prying or anything where the blade is asking to give a little...for holding an edge it is pretty nice though.

Strider knives, through personal experience(s) are not as tough as advertised and as already gone over the customer service is getting more and more hit or miss.
