This one came back with me from Belgium, so it has had its passport stamped.:D 9+ inch W2 blade with a pretty active hamon. The blade is finished to 1000 grit. The handle is a rather popcorny piece of sambar stag and the fittings are forged 416. The buttcap is fileed to match the contours of the stag. $500 with a "recycled" Paul Long sheath that I have had around for a couple of years for one of my own knives. SOLD.

This is a little 450 layer ladder pattern hunter made from Aldo 1084 and 15N20. The guard is made from the blade steel The vaguely Fisk style handle is some VERY nice Honduran rosewood burl that had been drying for around 9 years down in Belize with a 416 pin. It comes with a Tree Stump sheath. $325

This is a hunter with a blade slighty over 4.5 inches, a 416 guard and handle made from some very dark and rather old and dense Honduran rosewood burl from Belize. The steel is called 1.2442 in Germany and 115W8 in other parts of Europe. It is a tool steel that used to be used for making metal cutting saw blades, but was replaced by high speed steel for alleged cost reasons. The high speed steel blades would supposedly cut longer as long as you could keep the teeth from breaking off. LOL
Some knifemakers found a batch in Thailand and discovered it made really nice knives, so Achim Wirz, who is a kinfemaker and also kind of like Aldo's crazy German cousin had the mill that he works with make up 4 metric tons of the stuff. The best way that I can describe it is that is is like rather high carbon W1 with a goodly handful of tungsten added to it, so it is quite tough and takes a very fine edge. $250 with a Tree Stump pouch sheath.
