Kevin, would it be possible to get a sticky up in the For Sale forums for people to consolidate their threads? I know Mike had one up at one time, but when ITrader broke it got taken down and never put back up.

There is one member bumping 15 (so far) threads at a time every few days in FSbI forum and knocking everyone else's threads down, and I've noticed others doing it occasionally as well (though not to the same extent). It's a bit irritating to list an item and have it at the bottom of the page almost immediately.

Hi Kevin,

Please consider this post as wholehearted support for kiahs suggestion.

FSbI is one of the areas that I frequent habitually, and nothing is more aggravating than having to wade through Liu Kang's WALL of for sale threads on the front page. Not only is this behavior impolite and unfair to other members wishing to advertise, as it bumps damn near everyone to the second page, but it is just plain ignorant towards the rest of the community.

Aside from that, I wonder whether Gold status is in fact appropriate as it pertains to the aforementioned individual. There is certainly a high volume of items being pumped.

Honestly I'd prefer threads be split up since they can individually be closed off when done (and it's easier to spot a dealer hiding that way). Maybe we need a rule that someone cannot have more than 5 threads going at once.

I'm open to suggestions.

I personally would prefer the 5 thread rule, I like the thread title to be telling of what is for sale. I do not like to wade through 15 items to see if it is something of interest and then have to look to see if someone has already asked for it, (some OP do not immediately respond to I'll take it) and the thread is not updated.

Just my .02 and MHO

Maybe a limit on new threads/bumps per time period? Maybe 5 new threads or bumps per 24 hours? That would be less limiting to people needing to move a lot of knives, but would eliminate having the entire front page populated by a single seller.

I vote for the no more than 5 bumps in one day.. or something similar..
The "person" we are referring to, does go a bit over board..
A little common courtesy would be nice.. Cant help him with that.. But a rule would help..
Anyway.. +1 from me..

Bump here, Somebody is still bumping up a dozen threads at a time.. As in, right now..

I counted 12+ threads by the same guy on Page 1. Definitely not fair to others with knives to sell (including me).
The guy looks like a dealer to me, but whadda I know?

No, read the third post for me initial thoughts. Nothing has been done yet.

Do you have concrete proof that he is a dealer?

If you do, you need to pass it along, and we'll happily do something about it.

As it stands, we do not have any evidence that he is anything other than an avid collector getting rid of his collection.

I agree that he sells an awful lot of knives, but without any evidence, I cannot shut him down.

My email and PM box is available if anyone has the evidence.

I dont care so much if he is a dealer or not.
And I am sure he can afford to upgrade if he needs to..
Its just the constant bumping that takes up almost a full page. That is all that needs to be addressed..

I could go hardcore and use the rules from AR15.com - http://www.ar15.com/content/page.html?id=301

DEALERS: You must pay a fee to advertise in the Equipment Exchange. Please send an e-mail to advertise@ar15.com if you are interested in selling here.

The following rules are intended for the regular & Team Members of AR15.com only. Dealers/Industry Partners are subject to a different set of rules.

Welching

Sellers -- Be 100% sure that you want to sell the item and are satisfied with the selling price. If you back out of a deal AFTER you've agreed to sell it to a particular buyer, your account MAY BE LOCKED!

Buyers -- Be 100% sure that you can financially afford to purchase an item before offering to do so. If you back out of a deal AFTER you've agreed to buy from a particular seller, your account MAY BE LOCKED!

Equipment Exchange Rules

1. No more than TWO ads on page 1, and no more than FOUR ads within the first two pages.

2. No bold commands allowed in subject lines unless you're a paying Dealer/Industry Partner.

3. All ads should be placed in ONE appropriate forum.

4. All items MUST be priced!

5. You MUST have valid contact information to sell on AR15.com, and provide it to EE Staff on request.

6. You MUST have both your IM and e-mail turned on to sell here.

7. No auctions (or links to auction sites), unless specifically authorized by AR15.com. Accepting higher than stated prices for an item is considered 'taking bids' and is not allowed. If receiving a higher than advertised price is important to you, list your item on an auction site. Moreover, "Or Best Offer" is understood on the EE to mean best offer up to the listing price, not best offer above the listing price.

8. No links to other commercial sites except by AR15.com Dealers and Industry Partners.

9. WTB/WTT ads MUST be placed in the appropriate WTB/WTT forums ONLY. Posting them in the WTS forums may result in them being deleted instead of being moved. The ONLY exception is the NFA Firearms & Parts forum.

10. If you post more than EIGHT ads a month, think about becoming a team member and help support this site. This rule does not pertain to Dealers/Industry Partners.

11. Absolutely no stomping on other peoples' posts! Do not remark in any way that would negatively impact the sale of someone’s merchandise. This can result in your account being locked.

12. No posting of anything illegal.

13. Once your item is sold or traded, do NOT delete the original title, ad text, or asking price. Leaving the ad in place after a sale is protection for both the buyer and seller, and also acts as a price reference for others. Disregarding this rule may result in a suspension of your account. Edit the title and text of the ad to mark it "SOLD" or "TRADED". Do NOT post a new reply!

Rules #14-17 are specific to “BTT”, or bumping ads to the top of page 1:

14. Keep in mind Rule #1 above.

15. The seller CANNOT reply to their own ad within 72 hours of anyone's post (including their own) for any reason. The 72-hour countdown for the seller restarts with each new reply to the ad by ANYONE.

16. All changes/updates should be done with the edit feature to the original ad, not by adding another response.

17. Sellers -- If 72 hours have not passed since the last post by anyone, all questions should be addressed by IM, e-mail, or edit ONLY!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18. Buyers -- STOP the trivial 'mail sent' nonsense. Simply send the seller an e-mail and/or IM. Also, STOP bumping ads with "Hey, free bump for a nice rifle.", "Free bump for a nice guy", "Hey, great rifle. I wish I had the money", etc. All small talk should be restricted to IM or e-mail. Do not post in an ad unless you are interested in the item(s) for sale.

19. Don’t use a secondary "shill" account to ask a phony question or post any other messages, thus BTTing your own ad. This will result in BOTH accounts being locked!

20. Sellers -- Don’t rewrite an ad again in order to get it back on page 1.

21. Sellers -- Do not post items for sale that you do not have in your possession. Also, do not list items for sale unless you are 100% positive that you wish to sell them -- no "testing the waters" to gauge buyer interest or taking pre-orders.

If you break any of these rules, your ad may be removed or locked WITHOUT any notice!

Most importantly:

These for sale forums operate on honesty and integrity. If you cannot handle deals in an appropriate manner, don't post here! If you break our trust, it will be noted in our feedback forum -- selling rights may be removed and/or your account here will be subject to termination.

All items listed for sale must be described in an honest fashion! Do not attempt to represent replica (AirSoft, etc.) parts/products or cheap knockoffs as if they were Name Brand/OEM equipment! Do not knowingly sell defective products without acknowledging the defect. You must handle your transactions in a timely fashion. If you can't, don't buy it or sell it. And lastly, please maintain a reasonable level of civility. If a problem arises, don't immediately fly off the handle with threats & insults.

Don't know if you're kidding, but I actually really like it. I would give a little more leeway on the "front page" thing. I would think 4 or 5 would be more than enough for any private seller. Also, some posters need to start a thread with multiple posts due to the image limit.

Unfortunately, it would probably be a PItA for Mike and Dan to have to deal with the whining that would ensue.

My last comment was in reference to the wall of bumps forcing others from the front page every couple days. The dealer/not dealer issue is none of my concern, merely a shared observation. In any event, I'm over it and have accepted that some folks simply lack tact and etiquette.
