Who is that man Will?

That was my great grandfather, Sam Hargrove, who ranched the borderlands of south Texas in the late 1800's, early 1900's. The picture was taken on the banks of the Rio Grande, on the river road to Brownsville, in 1898. He had stopped for lunch and met a fellow who was also stopped to rest. Turned out the man was a photographer who agreed to take his picture, so he unpacked his suit from his bedroll and posed with his horse, Sergeant. The gear in the display case was his, except for the pistol which is a replacement identical to the one he carried--1st Gen Colt mfg in 1901. Scott's remark about fondling Colts brought it to mind.
