Container for single CR123 battery

A really good way to carry around a spare battery (or two), no matter which size is to buy some shrink-tube. The stuff you use to insulate sodder connections on wires. Get some that will fit just fit the battery, heat it with a heat gun (don't worry, needs very little heat, won't affect the battery and take a pair of pliers and clamp the overhang on both sides off till the tube melts together. Watertight, nonconductive and you can even punch a hole into the "sausage ends" to carry it on your key chain.

gee, talk about a useless solution to a non-existant problem...
put some electrical tape around the battery so that it covers the contacts and toss them in your pocket...

hell, forgo the electrical tape and toss them in your pocket..

That's what I've been doing for years. However, what prompted me to post this was that the other day, I tripped and fell in water. I managed to avoid getting my right pocket wet, but it was close. I doubt that a lithium cell will react badly to a splash, but the warning labels caution to avoid contact with water.

I'm just looking for a waterproof container to keep a spare cell inside, as I frequently work near water.

Thanks for all the replies and ideas!

I carry two spare CR123s by wrapping them in Saran wrap, then clear packing tape. Is quick, practically free, and you don't have to carry around an empty container after you've used them. The more waterproofing you need, use more saran wrap, the more wear resistance you need, use more tape. Will work with any number of batteries. The saran wrap keeps tape gunk off the battery, and is easy to open with a knife.

Absolutely brilliant

It's one of those "now why didn't I think of that" solutions:o

Thanks!
