Contego vs. 908 Stryker


I picked this H20 Griptilian on the trip. I really liked it in hand. The Axis lock is crazy smooth and I like the corrosion resistant steel. I really need a titanium handled knife that isn't a frame lock and I love the Axis so I'm going to pick up Wilkens scales.

The 908 Stryker arrived this evening and I love the proportions. It's not as smooth as the Griptilian so I guess I need to adjust it a bit, but I'm nervous to screw with it. I lubed it up with some gun oil and it's better, but nothing like the Griptilian.
To be honest I'm not too sure why so many say the Griptilian is over priced. I'm really happy with it.

With the proper adjustment, the Stryker will have a wicked awesome action. It is one of my all-time favorites.
 
I still have my eye on the Contego. Id love to be able to handle one first. I've got a custom Manix XL that is huge that I barely carry for that reason.
 
Thanks for the great pic of your 908. Between this and the 761 I would be set for this year...and I like the Stryker a little bit better. There's plenty of room next to my old standby 910. :cool:

Keep in mind that the handle of a Contego is slimmer and the blade is lower profile than the Manix XL. I can carry a Contego and barely notice it's there. I was given a Manix2 (not even the XL), and the Contego was less noticeable in my pocket than it was.

Lol!! I don't know how to cut them down on photobucket. The app updated and it's all different now. I'm working out the details for a sick set of scales for the Grip so it may knock the 908 out of my pocket for a while
 
I didn't want to post another billboard size pic, but I got a Contego today. This is a really big knife. It isn't going to knock the Stryker out of my pocket unless Im camping or working in the yard. For that stuff I think its perfect. The size of the knife makes it more difficult to flick the knife open and closed for me so for most times Im out Ill probably carry my soon to be custom Griptilian or the Stryker. I will say that the Contego folds up into the pocket very well and as so many have said it carries like a smaller knife.
I think my next purchase will be a mini Grip with some custom scales. Something that doesn't make people nervous when I flick it open to cut a package or whatever
