Last week Outdoor Edge released the first production run of Impulse (D.Ralph Design) and Magna (Kit Carson design).

Now that these knives are just hitting the streets, we are offering your choice of a free Wedge or Wedge II for the first BF member who posts a complete review on either knife, in "Knife Reviews". If you are the first to post two seperate reviews, (one on each model) you win two knives. What a deal!

The clock is ticking so we look forward to hearing from you soon.

I don't mean to sound negative but I have two questions: What is your definition of a complete review? How do you really know if the person has the knives?

By complete review I mean two or more paragraphs covering the knife in detail. Topics discussed should include but are not limited to; Overall appearance, fit and finish, handle ergonomics, construction-materials, discuss recessed clip design, opening action, lateral blade blade, edge sharpness, edge retention; What did you like or dislike about the knife; Does the knife offer good a value for what you paid and so on.

You have raised a good point however it would be dificult for someone to write a review and cover these topics with only a picture or catalog description of the knife. Even more difficult would be to fool me on the authenticity of the review if it was written without having the knife in hand. To make the contest legit, upon posting your review you need to fax a copy of your proof of purchase receipt to 303-530-7020. If you are thinking about writing a review without first obtaining the Impulse or Magna, do yourself a favor, Don't!

Thank you for your attention and we hope to hear from you soon.

Dear mister Bloch,
In short this means that someone like me living in Holland (Europe) will NEVER EVER be able to win such a contest as both your knives will probably only get to Europe in the next Millenium.
An forum, like the BladeForum, also has I presume quiet some non-USA members, these members are to say it in Dutch "piessen altijd naast het potje" translated in English it reads "will always urinate outside of the pot".

meaning never have a chance.

If you want a review of your new knives made by a Dutch Scout leader, from Holland Europe, just let me know, send me the knife or knives and I ( and some other leaders) will give them an decent but extensive workover as we scouts are constantly using knives.
Best regards, hope to hear from you, Bagheera (scoutingname)

To Bagheera:

Life is not always fair but in this instance BF members in Europe can also get in on this contest. Last week we shipped Impulses and Magnas by air freight to Germany and Holland. Unfortunately our Dutch distributor, Homeij in Oisterwijk only ordered one sample of each. They are however listed in the Frankonia catalog and should be avilable from them any day.

As far as sending you a knife to test this is not what we are interested in. We want a totally unbiased test from a customer who bought the knife because they wanted it. One thing we want to hear in the test report is was the knife a good value for what you paid. Tests from users who did not purchase the product can be tainted because in some cases the tester was not interested in the product in the first place. IMO a test report from a true consumer is always the best.

Thank you for your attention.

Interesting contest or offer. The only flaw that I see is that in order to win a free knife I would have to buy 2 other knives, post a complete review of each, and do it before anyone else.

Regardless of who wins, I look forward to reading the reviews. I just may end-up buying them anyway!
