A symbiont is an organism that lives with another organism for the mutual benefit of both organisms... in this case Becker and ESEE / the Necker and the Izula.

The name also applies to the knife and the user... implying that once you have this knife, the knife and the user will become one and you'll stay attached to it forever (or until one of you dies )
