Congrats!

OK Ewok you can offer your knife to whomever you wish so Jani Kemppainen gets it!

Now I hope no one thinks this is not fair as anytime something does not go to plan I get an earful.

So Jani send me an email with your snail mail address.
iamdawinna@bladeforums.com

And thanks Ewok as that was a very noble gesture on your part.

I hope this isn't sour grapes, but is Concealex a true thermoplastic, or is it in fact a thermoSETTING plastic?

(Thermoplastic: Soft when hot, hard when cold)

Thermosetting plastic: Permanently hardening or solidifying on being heated.)

Man, that was fun!

That was the first of the trivia questions I've attempted to answer.

Missed it by *that* much.

mike, what's tomorrow's knife and what's the "asking time"?

Oh, and has anyone mentioned (today) that this is the coolest giveaway contest around?

Thanks again for the chance to win!

JB

Ewok why don't you try useing some selfcontrol? This would have been your second knife in three days. Mike you should take control of this contest, and set some rules. Don't expect people to act like gentlemn when free stuff is on the line. I would think a winner would be out for the rest of the contest, or at least for a week or some length of time.

Uncle Bill is correct in asking:

----------------------------------
(Thermoplastic: Soft when hot, hard when cold)

Thermosetting plastic: Permanently hardening or solidifying on being heated.)

--------------------------------------

If you want to know if a certain material is thermoplastic or thermosetting, just heat it up again (note: this is a Desctuctive Test, possibly non-reversible, meaning that you may ruin your sample!)

If it softens when you heat it up and sets again in a new position, it is a thermoplastic (like Concealex).
If it melts, it is a thermosetting that only sets once during initial manufacturing.

Concealex... a new, sqecially formulated line of acrylic/ PVC thermoplastic designed for those with high standards to maintain. Made to exact specifications, only 100% virgin materials. Concealex is tough, durable, waterproof resistant to most chemicals, oils and solvents. Stable from below freezing to over 170o F it resists cracking or shrinking in even the harshest environments. Concealex offers the highest possible quality in thermoplastics today.

------------------

It is a true Acrylic / PVC camouflage plastic. It will not scratch or peel off. Thermoformable, it is definitely one hot new product.

Concealex is a registered trademark of the Concealex Company.

Whoa...I just got out of bed (it's noon here) and noticed this wasn't just a dream.

Thank you Ewok, thank you Mike & Spark for making this possible, thank you Tim Wegner and Blade-Tech, thank you Richie and Pat, thank you everyone who participated!

Jani

------------------
Two important questions in life:
Do they have a catalog?
Did you know there's a town called "Batman" in Turkey?

I have my answer from Lou Fortunato at Kydex Co. about whether this material is thermoplastic of thermosetting plastic.

It is a blend of Acrylic and PVC, thus it is a thermoplastic. FYI, we sell
thermoplastic and thermoset materials in sheet, tube and rod form.

Be aware, however, that certain websites are saying this is a thermosetting material. See my post above for the address of one of these and go there if you want to read the misleading info.

Enjoy your knife, Jani!
