Contest?

Yeah john already shot me down:(. I like the design they are handy but all of the controversy over that blade and arguments about it being a good knife or not make most people stay away. Plus its a pain in the butt to make.
 
I'm late to this but I'm in. I have an idea for something different. When is the deadline for submission?
 
It is fun, and I think with judges instead of a popularity vote, it would be much better. Out of the 7 of these I've held, only 2 were a success, the rest were failures, never sold any of the designs.
If we get at least 10 entries I will do it.
 
Post it out in General - list your limiting criteria (materials, size, grind complexity etc) -
There is more traffic out in the General forum.

You might even cross post it a little - post the contest up on instagram and your facebook pages.

You can keep the voting/judging here even if people from those other venues choose to enter. That would even drive some traffic here to BF, since people on insta-face-twit-gram are already online.

Additionally, I really like Brad's idea regarding limiting the judging to either knife-makers or mods here on BF.

Doing those things might help come up with a design that sells, which is the point. Even if a design does not win, as the Bluegill shows, it could become a seller.

I would prefer to keep it here for people who are more familiar with my work, it seems like some of the guys in General are a bit "unusual."
 
I'm wiling to be a judge, depending on how you do it.
