Should I just get a speed pot or try to go ahead and program this speed controller? I'm rather lazy and don't want to spend a bunch of time lol

What controller?? no pics. It should only take a few minutes to program a VFD if you have the book. It may even come with default settings that work for you. I just needed to play with the braking times and mine works fine.

It's a Lenze AC tech controller model SM010s.... it's the ones friezen sells on ebay with a motor. The book shows set up for using a speed pot and other hookups. I was just curious about if it was easier/better to set up using a dial than trying to push the little buttons.

The keyboard is easy to use, and if you read your manual you can set some preset speeds which will help some.Dave:)

I have the same controller. It works very well witht the pot, but you would not have quick enough variation with just the controller. I change the speeds very often, not sure I would do that without the pot. It's easy to wire it in, then you will use it constantly.

Yes - same here. I had several of those a few years ago. Personally, I don't think they can stand up to hard rigorous daily use. But for the ocassional use, they work great.

Speed Pot is definitely the way to go. There is a slight lag (but all VFDs have some lag).

I used Presets too...work great. But then, why have a VFD? Better off getting some step pulleys and a properly sized drive pulley.
