I have access to a motor that has a 7/8" shaft.

Is there an adapter of some sort, that I can use, to convert it down to a 5/8" shaft? If so, what is it called? Any recommendations on where I can get it?

Thanks!

What you DON'T want to do is try to file it down while running. That will surely ruin it. The best thing to do is get whatever you want mounted to the motor in 7/8". While 5/8" is a standard, 7/8" is usually available by request. You can also have many things bored out to 7/8".

What are you planning on mounting on the motor?

I took my motor to a machine shop and had it turned from a 7/8 to a 5/8 inch shrink fit. That is 5/8 plus .0015 or so. Have to heat the disc a little to fit it on the shaft. Cost me 80.00 with a new keyway. Nathan will not make a disc with a 7/8 bore. Jess

Nathan would probably bore one to fit your motor for you. Send him a PM.

You could also get a 7/8 to 3/4 shim bushing and use the 3/4" disc.
