Hello forumites, did anyone ever figure out the drive pulley size to make a wood working band saw run slow enough to cut metal?
I've got an excellent floor model Ridgid band saw and I want to rig it so I can use it both ways without investing in a dc motor if possible.
Thanks for anything you can tell me!!!

i used a 10:1 gear reducer that i bought off of ebay to slow the speed down to about 150 sfpm. it took a little bit of time to figure out the setup, but for about a total of 50 bucks, i have a pretty good metal cutting bandsaw...

i used a shop fox 14 inch woodworking bandsaw, and a 90 degree gear reducer. i had to do some drilling and welding to get it working. when i get home on monday, i will try to get some pictures of the setup. definately not quite plug and play. got to do some fabrication...but its worth the effort when i go and use it...
