Can somebody who has done this give me a few details as to where to get a contact wheel, where and how to mount the backstand idler, and any other hints on the process?
Thanks

I love my country! I just don't trust my government!
You can get the contact wheel and idler assembley from True Grit. The best Idler assemble I have seen is from the Burr King grinder. It has the belt tensioner built in.
I made a very heavy duty aluminum ring that went around the grinders spindle. I used stainles box tubing and U channel for the support arm. The idler attached the U chanel with two large bolts. The bolt at the grinder end has a clearace slot so the U channel would "sissor" on the box channel. This is what I use for the belt tracking.
It realy depends on the grinder you have as to how you will mount the arm.
Hope this helps!
