I hope everyone had a great holiday season and that 2024 is treating you well thus far! In between orders I managed to finish this guy up, a convex ground Verde Ranch Hunter in AEBL stainless steel. I normally make full flat grinds, some of which have slight convexity to them, but this is one of the RARE full convex grinds from my shop. The cross section of the blade is a tear drop shape, like an appleseed, if you will. It is a continuous arc from the spine to the "zero" edge, with the majority of that tear drop shape 1/2 way down the blade all the way to the edge. I have never held a Bark River knife, but I believe they do something quite similar. The AEBL steel was heat treated in house, with "cryo" and triple tempers to 62.5HRC. Convex ground to a zero edge with what I am guessing is about a 12° per side apex. It was sharp off the grinder, refined on a 2000 grit Green Brick of Joy, 4000 grit King, and stropped with 4 micron CBN on leather. Another stupid sharp knife that will really excel in all cutting tasks, especially bushcraft/woodwork. I have always hesitated on making convex knives, thinking my customer base may not be that familar with maintaining such an edge, but it's really easier than a "V" edge if you ask me. That rocking motion during sharpening was so natural, and the strop is easy to do. You stop the upward rocking motion by listening to the sound it makes as you raise that angle on the stone/leather. It's intuitive. More so than I thought. I will definitely be making more of these, and trying convex grinds on other knives/applications. Apologies for the wood. I really don't know what it is. It came in a box of other species during an order, and never knew what it was. I am thinking it is of the rosewood family, but not really sure. It's a hardwood that looks great and feels wonderful. Thanks for checking this one out, and if you prefer a "V" edge, I can do that for you, or feel free to add one yourself down the road if maintaining the convex is not your thing. It will be VERY easy to just put on a traditional "V" edge, due to how thin it is already.
OAL: 8 3/4"
Blade: 4"
Handle: 4 3/4"
Thickness: 0.080" taper to tip, full convex
Steel: AEBL 62.5HRC with "cryo"
Edge: full convex, guessing ~12° per side, 4 micron
Price: SPF (includes free USA shipping and kydex sheath)

A tiny bit of mineral oil is visible on the maker's mark side, forgot to wipe it down well. Also, the plunge does not break through the spine, scratch pattern makes it look like it does. It's clean.
Paypall preferred (samuraistuart@yahoo.com). All knives come with free shipping in the USA as well as a lifetime unconditional warranty. Something goes wrong, the knife gets repaired or replaced. I ask that the buyer be aware that most all of my knives are cutting tools and are made only for their intended use. I like to make thin, hard knives that excel at cutting and not necessarily able to take abuse. If you have any questions, feel free to DM me here or contact me by email (samuraistuart@yahoo.com).
