Typically I scandi grind this knife, but I wanted to try a convex version.

I mainly took pictures of the blade on this particular one. The next two pics will show you better how I shape the handles (not the knife for sale).

Specs:
Steel: O1
Thickness: 5/32"
Grind: Convex
Handle: Green Canvas Micarta

Price is $145. I also have two styles of sheaths from JRE Industries available for it as well.

Please email me to purchase (briangandrews at comcast dot net).

Thanks,
Brian

Great looking knife...do you have any with a scandi grind by chance?
What is the length overall and the blade?

I have LOTS of scandi's in the works.

This is my own personal knife.

The blade is 4.25" and an OAL of 9". I generally make them in either 1/8" or 5/32".

If you are really interested, shoot me an email. I have tons of pictures I can show you, and could get you one out of this next batch.

I've handled both of these knives and they're a handfull. Congrats to whoever buys the convex version.

REALLY like the looks of this one. Are the specs/length on this one the same as the Burl wood handled one pictured above?

Have you been able to compare the Convex to the Scandi grind in typical bushcraft use? I love convex grind knives... but am a bit of a novice when it comes to scandi grind blades.

I wanted to post quickly to let everyone know that this one sold last night.

I will get back to the questions.

Thanks,
Brian

Just plain gorgeous! I've got a scandi version of that same knife, it is bar-none the best bushcraft knife I've ever used (and I've used a lot!).

Yup. The convex one was 5/32". My curly birch one was 1/8". That is the only difference.

Yup, and it pretty much comes down to personal preference and your intended use.

Myself, I like scandi grinds because I do a lot of detail oriented cutting, and the control is much like a woodworking chisel.

Convex is the strongest grind geometry there is. So, what is important to you?

Also, it is important to consider the actual geometry of the convex grind. I could hand you 100 different convex grinds, and each one would be different. You can have a very short radius, that is super tough, and isn't much for cutting, or a very large radius, that to the eye looks flat.

I know I didn't answer your question, but there is not easy answer to that endless debate :D

wow looks great. Where in Michigan are you?

Berkley.

Those both look awesome. I would be proud to tote either one of those around. I really need to pick my self up a bushcrafter to try one out.

Or shoot, maybe that should be the next design I make.

These are very nice knives. I reviewed one recently and think they are a really great bargain for what you get.
