How many hours did that take BryFry?That is simply amazing!
Thanks! ...It took a while since I did it by hand (I need to get a belt sander), and that is some HARD edge steel!
I can't recall exactly for sure, but I'm guessing it took me at least 6-8 hours, give or take. Maybe a bit longer.
Oh, and I just remembered, I tried to start out the reprofiling with a large file but when I found out the Waki's edge was too hard for the file to affect it I did use an XXcourse DMT diamond stone on it, which had a little more effect, but still wasn't easy.
...didn't take long for me to put away the stone and switch to 120 grit paper, which got chewed up pretty quick so I went through several sheets of the stuff. Getting the initial reprofile angle ground on there is what took the longest. after that's set it's just a matter of polishing with progressively finer grits, until you reach the desired level of sharpness/finish. :thumbup:
