Hey guys, I was just wondering how many of you put a convex edge on your Mora's or other Scandi grind knives? Or do you just keep the "v" on it? Thanks.

After i learned how to put a convex edge all my knives have one.. Works great on a mora. First i put a "V" edge and finish with the convex. It dont seem to shave the hair on my arm as well but for anything else it cuts same and last much longer.

They are plenty sharp for me just the way they come. I can't see much difference between the convey edge and the regular scandi edge. JMO

The Scandi edge is so sharp, I'm kindly afraid to mess with it. I just received a few new Moras yersday and the 510 came with a rather "unsharply" edge. While feeding it to the Sharpmaker, I was wondering about how a convex would do, but then, when I finished, it was sharp enough to scare me. I left well-enough alone!

That said, if my new-found love of Moras continues, there's no doubt I'll try a convex. I'll probably just do it straight from the Scandi grind without first cutting a v-grind. We'll see how that works.

All of my Mora's end up being convexed eventually. I am not sure if it is the way I sharpen them or the strop I use, but after 6-8 months the scandi grind always transforms into a convex grind.

i sharpen my mora like i do a convex, but it isn't really a convex edge...its just ever so slightly rounded.

i use a peice of heavy cardstock, like cereal box cardboard, with 600 and 1200 grit sandpaper taped to it to sharpen the bevel. this is followed with a strop. the bevel is still maintained, i just find it easier to sharpen this way vs a stone for the scandi edge. its a bit more forgiving and i don't have to worry about slipping and ruining the grind.
