I posted this in MT & E, but it is appropriate here, as well. Murray Carter gives some good insight on convex edges, freehand convex edges, and the concept behind them.
i recommend getting an opinel to try it on first. they're cheap and it's pretty easy to do since its a thin blade. it took me like an hour to get a decent edge. it came out well for my first time but it could of came out better if i used a variety of grits.
