Hey guys im wondering what everybody uses to sharpen their convex grinds?

I personally use a GB stone but i find it is hard to get razor sharp edges on knives with it

So show me what you got/use!

brkt leather strop with black and green compound for touching it up....for re-sharpening mouse and sandpaper...nothing fancy :)

Fine-grit slack belt if it needs serious reprofiling. Japanese water stones for basic sharpening. And a double-sided leather strop (one side with compound, one without) to put a serious polished edge on. Most of the time, the strop is all I need.

All the best,

If you enjoy hand sharpening process then try the sandpaper and mousepad method. For me getting a Harbor Freight belt grinder was ideal - relatively inexpensive, fast (about 2 mins), and easy with very sharp edges as a reults. Do a search for the Jerry Hossom link on sharpening with a belt grinder if interested. Here's a good demo of the process:

This is my technique as well, and it works like magic. I was hopeless at sharpening before- now, I am a master! :D Although I don't use a mousepad, I just use a paperback book instead. It's the same theory, gives the same results. I don't have neoprene mouse pads around, I haven't owned a roller-ball mouse for many years. :D

I don't know where everyone gets these old school mouse pads. 1998 is calling, and it wants its mouse(s) back! :p
