I will make this short. My freind has a Buck knife & claimed to have field dressed two Deer this last year with it. He ranted about how good Buck knives are. I asked to see this wonder knife. He brought it out & I looked at it & noted the blade was convexed. Anyone else have the same results?

I don't know if it's the best ever..... but I do like convex blades for utility/do it all work.

I have never seen a convex grind on a Buck. I'm interested to know what model the knife was.

I prefer convex edges myself, Buck doesn't convex any of their knives, so someone had to have done it aftermarket.

Convex blade, or convexed edge?

I use convex edges mostly myself, but it only matters if you make the radius match the extreme thinness that the steel can handle as you go upwards from the edge. Otherwise convex or flat doesn't matter. It's all in the geometry.

I have yet to be amazed by the performance of any Buck knife; at least the ones made from the 420 series steels. Lots of folks say Buck gets the most out of this steel that anyone can, and if that's true, the stuff is even crappier than I give it credit for.

You take the words out of my mouth (or the text out of my fingers?).

My Buck 110 took a great edge being stropped on various grits of polishing film over leather. The edge is convexed, but the fact that both sides meet in a straight line that's highly polished is why it's sharp. Otherwise, baseball bats would outcut razors because they're more convex.

Hmmm.. Thanks for the input guys! I think he done the convex on the Buck blade. Looks to me that just the edge of the blade was convexed & not the whole blade per say. Oh well, at least it worked for him!
