When I emigrated from the UK I gave my knife collection to my little nephews
they were not really expensive knives but were I think for the most part made in Germany ( none of your made in China junk ).
Anyways I got to thinking about them yesterday and one of them was a large Bowie knife with a bone handle, now when I think I'm sure it had a fully convexed blade ! Is that unusual on a med/low budget knife ?
I'd like to put some pics up but my nephews mum is very anti-knives and has said they can't have them till they are older ( ones 13 and ones 11 ) I know what your thinking but each to their own eh and I respect that !!!

It's more work to grind a full-convex blade, and there was no automated machinery to do it as little as five years ago. (Not sure if there is automated equipment now.)

Many/most German knives of the pre-WWII and 1950-1990 periods were a good value -- mostly good, honest carbon steel and some really nice stag handles. I got a Puma in 1968 that I still have, a great knife. Quality overall has declined since then with fewer and fewer makers. (The "China Syndrome" is not just about runaway nuc plants.)
